About

Buying a paddle should not take a weekend.

Paddle Intelligence is the public face of work we started years ago: making sense of the explosion of paddle releases by combining lab data with independent reviews into one transparent, evidence-weighted score.

Why this exists

The pickleball paddle market got out of hand. There are 500+ paddles available right now from dozens of brands, and the people you'd trust to test them — independent reviewers like Pickleball Studio, Pickleheads, Pickleball Effect, Matt's Pickleball — are buried in releases. Most buyers spend hours doom-scrolling YouTube and end up with a paddle that doesn't match their game.

We pulled the lab numbers from independent testing rigs, gathered every independent review we could verify, scored each paddle's evidence quality, and blended it all into one score that respects both objective data and reviewer consensus. It's documented end-to-end — no black box, no affiliate-bias.

Who we are

Paddle Intelligence is built by Brian Lim and the Building Pickleball team. Brian is a competitive 4.5+ player and the founder of Building Pickleball, a media + community brand covering the pro tour, paddle launches, and player development. You can find him on Instagram or YouTube.

How we make money

Some brands give us affiliate codes — when you use one, we earn a small kickback at no cost to you. Every code is on the Discounts page and we keep the list short and to brands we actually believe in. Affiliate status never affects a paddle's ranking. The blended score is computed before we know who pays us, and we'll flag bottom-ranked paddles from affiliate brands just as readily as anyone else's.
